Past Criminal, Uncovers True Identity

December 19, 2022

I used to think that the criminal world was who I was and where I belonged. But now I realize that I am more than my past because I am forgiven by God. He made me perfect in His image. I am new in Christ.

People may think, “once an addict, always an addict.” But they should know their support matters because Adeara has taught me that the label “addict” doesn’t define me. Through my time here, I am learning how to stay sober, parent my children, set healthy boundaries, resolve emotional and behavioural problems, the neuroscience of addiction, money management, and so much more. Adeara has also helped me reconnect with God. Without Him and Adeara, my recovery journey would not be possible.

Women come to Adeara with thoughts, feelings and pasts that tell them they’re not worth our help. When you support Adeara, you help our residents realize their value. And that realization is priceless. Just as the women at Adeara matter more than they had believed, you matter more than you might think.
