Join Us for The Coldest Night of the Year – February 22, 2025

January 13, 2025

We’re excited to invite you, our Adeara community, to a special opportunity this winter! On February 22, 2025, Adeara is once again participating in The Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY)—a nationwide event that raises funds and awareness for those experiencing homelessness, hunger, and hurt.

CNOY brings charities (like Adeara) across Canada together to support programs addressing these critical issues. It’s a unique and inspiring event where communities unite for a cause by walking in solidarity while proudly sporting matching CNOY toques! The sight draws curiosity and attention, amplifying our shared mission and the vital work of Adeara.

This year marks Adeara’s 5th consecutive year participating in CNOY. The connection between homelessness and addiction is undeniable—an experience many women, like Jenna (pseudonym), a past Adeara client, know all too well. Without a safe and secure home, Jenna struggled to survive both physically and mentally. Through her recovery journey with Adeara, she found stability and the hope of a future free from addiction and homelessness.

Together, we walk to break this cycle. Together, we walk to see women set free!

Here’s how you can get involved:

  1. Lead a team or join a team (most urgent need): Walk with us outdoors for 2K or 5K to support the women of Adeara. Each team consists of seven or more participants, collectively raising funds for their walk. Check out the walking route and details on our CNOY webpage.
  1. Volunteer: As a volunteer, you’ll be taking a specific role and ensuring all of our guests have a seamless and meaningful experience. We still have several spots that need filling such as greeters, route marshalls and check-in crew! Learn more about the various roles and sign up here! (Make sure to select “Edmonton Millwoods – Adeara Recovery Centre” as your location).
  1. Donate: Did you know you can still donate even if you are not walking? You can donate to Adeara’s general team, or any team walking for Adeara by visiting our CNOY webpage. All gifts of $20 or more will receive a tax receipt as well!

Get the whole family involved—this is a winter activity for all ages!

We’re calling on families, friends, classrooms, coworkers, sports teams, and small groups to come together and make a difference. Let’s show our solidarity for women who have experienced homelessness, hunger, and hurt through addiction.

This February 22, we walk for hope, healing and restoration.

Will you walk with us?
