Introducing Our New Transition House

December 10, 2024

We are glad to finally share an exciting project that we have been working on behind the scenes. As you may know, many of our clients come from a background of houselessness, incarceration, or abusive environments. For clients in recovery, having a safe, reliable home for themselves and their young children is essential. When women come to Adeara, they are provided with a fully furnished suite in a safe place to heal and grow.

But upon completion of our program, women begin the process of moving out on their own. This is a huge and difficult step, and without a strong support network, clients are at risk of relapse and a return to previous habits.

For years, we have dreamed of having a dedicated building to serve as a transitional home that would provide clients with the support they need during this critical stage.

Today, we are thrilled to announce this dream has become a reality.

This year, because of the generosity of one individual, Adeara was able to acquire a fourplex in Edmonton. The new-to-us building will give up to four graduated clients at a time a transitional home as they start their independent recovery journeys. In honour of the generous donor that made it possible, we are naming the facility “Labonte Manor,” knowing it will be a home that will serve many in the coming years.

This new facility marks a pivotal step in Adeara’s history as our program continues to grow in capacity. Next steps include renovating the building and furnishing it for the comfort of our first residents. We look forward to occupying the new location in 2025!

How does this fit in with Adeara’s current program?

The transition house will operate within Adeara’s second phase of our addiction program, which provides opportunities for ongoing support to past clients. Clients who complete the first phase of the program will have the opportunity to live with their children in our transition home for up to two additional years while gaining independence and maintaining a life of recovery.

None of this would be possible without our community’s steadfast support and belief in our mission.

If you share our vision to see women in addiction experience freedom through a life of recovery, please consider financially supporting Adeara this holiday season. It is only through the generosity of our community that we can continue to give women a safe place to heal.

You can make your secure online donation below before December 31, 2024. Thank you for being an integral part of the Adeara community.
