The Life Skills Support Worker at Adeara is responsible for the supervision of the residents under the direction of the Facility/Support Lead. The Life Skills Support Worker is expected to complete their responsibilities in a manner that is appropriate and in agreement with the Mission, Vision, Value Statements and Philosophy of Adeara.

Adeara is a long-term, residential recovery program for women. We help women in addiction create lasting change through our accredited, faith-based program.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee residents with guidelines from management
  • Awareness of and implementation of resident program guidelines
  • Adhere to and facilitate daily schedule for residents
  • Complete administrative duties, daily duties, and procedures according to Adeara standards
  • Exhibit courtesy and confidentiality

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be available and accessible to the residents during scheduled shift
  • Aware of the location and activities of residents
  • Able to uphold facility guidelines and resident behaviour standards
  • Support residents with Life Skills; develop, document progress and outcomes
  • Support residents with appointments, including transportation
  • Properly assist residents during their scheduled medication time, and accurately document actions in medication records.
  • Ensure all client documentation is recorded in a clear professional, factual manner
  • Promote good relations between residents and management, counsellors, facilitators, volunteers and other residents
  • Be responsible to properly secure the building and monitor security cameras
  • Attend and participate staff meetings
  • Complete all required training and certifications
  • Assist the Facility/Support Lead in maintaining a safe, clean, well-organized, and fully functional environment for residents

QUALIFICATIONS:

Life Skills Support Workers are required to meet the following qualifications:

  • Degree in a human services field (for example psychology, sociology, social work, criminology) or,
  • Diploma or addictions certificate, plus two years related experience in addiction recovery work or,
  • Actively enrolled in an addiction related educational program, plus two years related experience in addiction recovery work.

A recently completed (within 6 months) Criminal Record Check (with Vulnerable Sector Search) and Child Intervention Check will be required prior to employment.

This position requires the employee to drive clients to appointments using an Adeara vehicle. To meet the criteria for driving Adeara vehicles, employee must have a clean driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving experience in Canada.

One job opening: 3 shifts per week

Saturday (8am – 4pm), Sunday (8am – 4pm) and Tuesday (8am – 4pm)
