Evening of Dreams 2024 – Recap

October 22, 2024

Last Friday, over 400 people gathered to support women in addiction in what has been said is our “best gala yet.” Together, we celebrated the incredible achievements YOU made possible this past year, listened to a powerful testimony from a woman who defied the odds to overcome addiction, and unveiled an exciting new phase of Adeara’s program. It was truly a night we won’t soon forget.

Together, we raised an astounding $252,554.43! Thank you for your generosity.

Key Highlights

  • Pastor Mike Voll of North Pointe Church, our emcee, brought witty entertainment and enthusiasm to the night! As Mike is a long-time supporter who has even jumped out of a plane for Adeara, we were thankful to have him be our guide for the evening.
  • We celebrated all Adeara and More Than a Fad was able to accomplish this past year, thanks to your generosity and support. This year was MTAF’s most profitable year, bringing in $518,000 in sales!
  • We announced Shauna Yohemas, who has been serving on Adeara’s board since 2020, as our new board chair. We honoured David Cornock, who is stepping away after six years of dedicated service on the board, and Jesse Jervis, who has transitioned from board chair to board director. We are deeply grateful to both for their significant contributions to Adeara.
  • We announced the purchase of a 4-plex in Edmonton to serve clients transitioning out of Adeara’s program into independent living. This transition home has long been a desire of Adeara and was made possible by the generosity of Eileen Labonte, who the home will be named after as “Labonte Manor”. Stay tuned for more information to be posted on our website soon!
  • Samantha, an Adeara Alumni, bravely shared her powerful testimony. She has against all odds, broken free from the cycle of addiction and trauma to raise her kids in a new cycle that she is creating – one of love, safety, and healing. Her story is a powerful testament to the generational impact made possible through Adeara. Watch her story on our YouTube page.
  • There were several ways to support Adeara throughout the gala, such as the thrilling Balloon Pop Raffle where guests had a 1 in 100 chance to win a grand prize stay in Mexico! Our Live Auction consisted of six items such as vacations, a radio promotion package, oilers tickets and a McDavid Jersey. Our Needs List displayed our centre’s immediate tangible needs and was almost sold out by the end of the evening. Our Silent Auction consisted of 12 items that attendees spent the evening out bidding each other on.
