Donor & Community Relations Assistant

The Donor & Community Relations Assistant is responsible for fostering positive relationship with Adeara’s community of donors, fundraisers, partners, and volunteers through personal connection, awareness building, and events. This position involves partnering with the Fund Development Team and the Executive Director to ensure successful fundraising events and strengthen and build Adeara’s supportive community long-term. The Donor & Community Relations Assistant is expected to deliver a high level of service to the community and complete his/her responsibilities in a manner that is appropriate and in agreement with Adeara’s mission, values, policies, and philosophy of care.

Position Objectives:

  • Provide strategic direction and management of programs that nurture and strengthen the relationships of donors to Adeara. Directly engage in activities that foster positive relationships with donating churches, businesses, foundations, and individuals.
  • Oversee Adeara’s annual fundraiser and appreciation events, including but not limited to event planning, volunteer management, day-of event direction and post-event wrap up.
  • Maintain a strong connection with Adeara event volunteers and fundraisers, facilitating long-term relationships.
  • Represent Adeara at church presentations, third party fundraisers, and other one-off events to bring awareness to Adeara and increase community connection.
  • Develop and implement a community relations strategy, including cultivating and maintaining relationships with new and existing churches, community groups and related mental health organizations.
  • Ensure commitment to quality brand experience and delivery to our community.


  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in marketing, communications, business, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years successful experience in communications, event planning, fund development or public relations.
  • Tech-savvy: Proficient with technology and a quick learner of new software. Strong digital data management and reporting skills.
  • Experience in developing and coordinating community activities and campaigns. Public speaking experience and skill considered an asset.
  • Experience working with volunteers in a non-profit organization. Able to oversee and delegate to a team of volunteers and enforce clear communication practices.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Sound knowledge of principles and practices in public relations.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed care, addictions, and mental health (training provided)
